Kersefontein has benefited from the extraordinary growth the past few years in film and still production in the Western Cape area.
Its unique combination of river and estuary vleis, with dry, cracked pans, a flat horizon and big sky, coupled with veld and shrub, clay airfields, and distressed walls of old buildings as well as the extraordinary light in the early mornings and mid-afternoons have made the farm a popular destination for those seeking a location for commercial film, catalogue and editorials. A number of music videos, and television commercials featuring products ranging from Lipton tea for Dutch television to Timotei shampoo for the Polish market, as well as catalogues and editorials for Italian, English and German clothing have been shot on the farm. An added advantage is the availability of comfortable accommodation and facilities for the clients, agency representatives and crew using the farm and area for shooting, as well as the presence of an owner well versed in the vagaries of an industry requiring anything from horses to aircraft at a moment's notice.
